I've just received one of those holiday offer cards from Mercury Holidays, but on the front, just above my address, someone has written in big letters, P=21. Is this a post office thing or something put on by Mercury? Does anyone know? TIA.

My guess is that your postman has written that as a reminder that he has a parcel for number 21 on your road. Mine often has little cryptic notes on the envelopes.
