limewire - need more sources - What does this mean?

Finally got limewire working - Thanks to those that helped on that one, now however every time i select a tune to download, the status widow comes up with a message saying "need more sources" what does this mean? Please help

It means there are not enough Users on line to supply the demand for the download you are requesting.

Leave it for a few minutes, and make sure no more options to download are produced on the menu - and if not, simply re-try until you get sources. Early morning or late at night are good times for more popular material.

Hi mkjuk, I agree with andy but I have found that sometimes a file can be found while searching but can never be downloaded and always shows ''need more sources'', I suspect this might be because in Limewire options it is possible to set it so that your PC never uploads any files to requests, but that the files will still show in searches.

try disconnecting, and re-connecting, you'll get a different bunch of ultrapeers and therefore a slightly different range of items available. Im not sure if what qapmoc says is true about the options if you select not to share files they wont show up in any searches.

Hi spike, well its got to be something like I said because I have had files which I have searched for often and found but which have never over months of trying been able to download. so they must show in a search but cannot be downloaded.

Hey qapmoc - im afraid what you say cant be true as this would mean when you search for a file limewire would look at EVERY file on everyones computer on the network and display the relevant results. As it is possible to share every folder only these are usually in the "not sharing" mode and the shared folder is in no way seen differently to these by limewire. eg if what you say is true, if i searched for a file "uninstall" limewire would display uninstall files from literally millions of programs althogh they would not be downloadable.

Hi spike, yeah whatever you say, but that doesn't change the fact that sometimes you can search and find a file but can NEVER get it to download.

I have downloaded most of the red dwarf TV series but there are one or two I need to complete, every week or so I search again and these appear in the search results but in three months I have never actually managed to download them!
