Last one. 1a Beetles left in sand by holidaymakers (8) ?C?M?E?S
Pretty certain it must be scampers (campers being holidaymakers) but I don't get the full wordplay

HMMMM so the left hand letter in sand = s + campers. Is that it? If so I think it's a pretty weak clue. Or is there a different explanation?
