(48a: Enosis)

Question Author
I had unison not enosis. Silly me
if i hadn't heard of the word before then it would have been all Greek to me
v. drole, B'bub. It was "enosis" which kicked off the war in Cyprus in the 70s that resulted in the partition of the island.
The concept of enosis goes back to the 50s. It was a movement to fight against British rule and to form union with Greece. The word means union. Those of my age may well remember Archbishop Makarios, the leader of the movement.
