Public disorder, community problems, respect for the police etc, gives the person some sort of self respect & keep them off the streets / Drugs.

the German way is good years either in police cadets or military..can still study under their placement provider..

Oh yes indeed. I've always said that. It would do some of the yobs male and female the world of good to learn discipline, care of others and indeed the environment and self confidence. Making them better citizens when they have done their bit.

But what the young really need is not marching up and down, and painting the coal white....its proper training and a job thereafter. Earlier this week, we read that various Health Trusts were complaining about having to recruit nurses from abroad. So lets start training 10,000's of our own young people to be Nurses !

So why did they abandon it, you have to ask yourself. Because it was anachronistic and cost a fortune to run / took away a valuable period in people's lives when they should be learning a skill or obtaining a degree / didn't reduce crime by any significant amount. Just to name a few.

Seriously, does anyone think some obvious members of our racial minorities would meekly turn up at training camps like good little boys & girls.

they can whilst serving in military..I know 3 male nurses who qualified while in uniform and are now placed in hospital civvy life

I was just going to say something similar minty, ex forces nurses are in great demand.
As for university, the forces will sponsor suitable personnel through university in exchange for a minimum five years service, probably as an officer. A good deal!

Agree with you, Mikey, but on a voluntary basis, perhaps expanding the TA, but introducing non-military appointments?

And are the sort of people who become nurses or are officer material the sort of people who TWR thinks will benefit? No.

no zac but it offers the means to do so if wished..every one benefits from learning basic life skills and respect for onself as well as others..and self discipline
