I've just realised that SOLARNIO can't fit with the answer to 14d which I'm pretty sure is EVANGELIST (Daudet's advocate) giving an 'A' for the second letter.

I did see an alternative spelling of SOLANIO as SALANIO on google.

I've just submitted it and all correct. Typical of the TLS to have some obscure alternative spelling, usually with a non-crossing letter.
