Last year McVities reduced the size of there ginger biscuits.
I now notice Andrex have reduced the width of classic quilt toilet rolls by 3mm.Still the same price. Trifling items but why?
I wonder if any other ABs have noticed any other cuts.
On the same theme, one of the curses of modern shopping is that almost everything comes pre-packed in quantities that you neither want nor need. How long is it since you could walk into a shop and buy two eggs? People living on their own are wilfully exploited. I throw away more than I eat. Not so long ago I went to Greggs to buy half a dozen bread buns, only to be told...
A classic way of concealing price increases by stealth. Examples are too numerous to mention. I recently noticed that a lb of mince (454g) is now packaged at 400g, same price. Plays havoc with my recipes.
Our coal supplier recently changed bags from 25 kilo to 20 kilo without mention. When I asked why, they said it was better to make the bags smaller than to put the price up and less people would complain. Less people would notice more likely.
I have often wondered about Wagon Wheels. They disappeared during my childhood and did not reappear for many years. I noticed that they were considerably smaller, but was that because they had reduced in size or that they seemed so much bigger in the small hands of a 5 year old?
