I remember a few years ago going to a recital given by a British pianist who brought his own piano stool with him, because, like Glenn Gould, he liked to sit very low at the keyboard. I wish I could remember his name. Any ideas?

Are you sure that he was British? The only pianist that I know of who takes his own piano stool all around the world is Russian: Nikolai Demidenko.

definitely British. A long, long time ago a mutual friend introduced me to him at his home in Worthing, and then about 40 years later I heard him in a recital.
