Thanks Daniel - nice gentle one today - leaves lots of time for the garden!
Welcome back Daniel.

A straightforward Doc although one or two of the 'groupies' were
new to me.
Thanks, Daniel.

I assume the number count at 29 Across is just a mistake - it says (7) but there are only 5 cells?
It's always so encouraging when the experts (Roslyn et alia) let you know how easy they found it.
Thanks Daniel.
Neveracrossword - I've put a 5 letter word in 29a.
I’ve managed to fill in the whole grid, but I can’t understand the “groupies.” Where in Chambers can I find them? I don’t have 2011, only 2008.
Utterly baffled by the theme, have filled all clued lights although not entirely happy with 10d 'Group note during the month' (5), where i have 'inset'. Gentle hint would be highly appreciated!
Piffleworthy
A note .... Do, re, mi etc inside abbrev of month
Thank you kettledrum, have just returned to this but the theme continues to elude me, so my unclued lights remain unpopulated!

Would welcome any hint as am going cross-eyed with frustration!
C'mon people, 9 down, groupies: anything? Anyone? Thanks. Too hot to garden here anyway so I'll just keep at it.
Groupies refers to collections/assemblies of things - one of the ones in the crossword was - (a) Gaggle (of geese). I don't still have the magazine and I can't remember any others.
9d is I think an English one, was a Companion of Honour.

Am still wrestling this theme, if gaggle is 25d then 32 and 37 are odd words indeed!
32 refers to goldfish

37 refers to hippopotamus
Thank you toalisi, I have been set free!
Try this piffleworthy .

scroll down to collective nouns .
My Chambers is a museum piece and doesn't contain this new section .
With a nudge from my old friend K I found this on line .
Glad I could help.
