"I hate being unemployed, all I want is to work and get money to live a comfortable life. I was in a job for 10 years before I was made In employment for 10 years. This man was not a shirker. I think it says more about the person who stopped his benefit than it does about Mr Paul Hyde

if he was fiddling it they would -)
Maybe he should have fulfilled the requirements before going out with his placard. Actually, as a painter and decorator, a few cards in shop windows might bring him some private work.
That could well throw temptation in his path. A few odd jobs, not enough to live on, and he might continue to claim that entire £59 in benefits. Doing the double isn't the way to go..
/// must be true it is in the torygraph ///

Why do leffties always have to have a dig at the Tory press, yet at the same time bother to go into their websites to find their stories?

Tories do not bother to make snide remarks against the Left-Wing press, but then they believe in freedom of expression.
You are kidding, AOG?

Did they explain what about it was inappropriate? Too close to begging?

AB Editor when you sign on they give you a booklet and you have to fill in the details of the firm, name, telephone number etc that you have contacted

they have little boxes that you fill in and put answers , date you got a reply (if they bother etc )

if you don't fill these in you can lose your benefit, you have to show this booklet every two weeks and be on time or your benefit is stopped , cut etc

even if you have a starting date for a job in writing you still have to send and attend visits to firms till you start work or lose some benefit

Chewn, I read the article. DrFilth has explained the requirements which this man failed to fulfil. Why do you want me to read it again?

I can't see how the person who stopped his benefit can be blamed. He/she is just a clerk doing the job as required.
"He/she is just a clerk doing the job as required"

useless little jobsworth !

shame they cant stop the immigrants that are bleeding the system on a daily basis , and have been for tens of years.

you mean to tell me that vile scumbags like choudry and that other filth hamza (now gone) fulfils all the requirements to the last dot and t...

yeah right
Baz, you can bet your boots they're filling in the forms.

Do you really think a clerk can make the decision to override the rules? I think not.
AOG - "Why do leffties always have to have a dig at the Tory press, yet at the same time bother to go into their websites to find their stories?"

Why do you use the term 'lefties' as a derogatory term - it's not nice.
Isn't that the guy from Eastenders??

I'd have phoned his number if I'd seen him around here. He could've done a couple of my rooms.
I believe the requirement is 5 job applications (or 5 job-seeking related distinct actions) minimum in a week. Once you bear that in mind it's not too hard to see that walking about with a placard isn't quite the same as a job application, and at least that it mightn't meet the JSA requirements. The onus is on employers to contact you with a placard -- to claim JSA the onus is on you to actively contact employers. Carrying a placard like that is fine -- but he ought to have also done other more active things on top.
Andy, he uses it in the same way that ‘lefties’ often use the term ‘right wingers’. They're all at it.

does anyone know if he did not meet his quota ?

remember what they said
> A spokesman for Jobcentre Plus said they did not comment on individual cases. <
They said he “needed to prove” he had handed in CVs. I assume he hadn’t done that.
