This was a fairly easy solve and some nice clues. Can't help feeling though that the endgame seems to be a bit of a mishmash.

Not familiar with the quotation, but it's all coming together quite nicely, with about five clues to go. A good chance of getting back to the new Magpie this evening. Thanks Dysart.

Yes, finding the author gave lots away but we thought these were lovely clues and have thoroughly enjoyed it, as we usually do with Dysart's compilations. Many thanks, Dysart.

Thanks too to Dysart. I enjoyed this a lot - detective work and not grid staring. A gradual series of pdms - not a quote I knew but finding the subject led to it fairly fast (and, as a sideline, some of the barbed comments aimed at the subject are brilliant) . Thematic items also helped with tricky clues I found.

Straightforward yet enjoyable gridfill, but tracking down all the elements of the endgame left me more annoyed than elated. The "unchecked initial letter" bit makes it a bit less work, anyway. Onward and upward!

In some sense it's almost a shame that you have to do the endgame for this one, as it breaks the symmetry of the set of thematically-linked trios. Still never mind. A very nice Listener, so thanks to Dysart.

Not hard, quite fun, with some pleasing clues. I seem to have finished this without identifying the quotation but I shall try to track it down to confirm things.

Not the toughest of Listeners but a well crafted construction and a quote (that I wasn't familiar with) led neatly to the endgame. Thanks to Dysart for a fun puzzle.

Murphy's law .. last couple of weeks I had little time... this week had some time and easier.. hey ho.

With one of the trios (treated thematically) ... I think an 'argument' could be made for 3 possible answers (I know which one I am going to plump for as it 'suits' better but...)

I also think something is missing from the clue in 33d (well the way I have parsed it anyway).. although I expect that I'm probably missing something rather than the clue.

A vey gentle romp through this one. Very accessible clueing, plus got the author early on which quickly led me to pick out the likely quotation from ODQ which meant I knew exactly what I was looking for. Fun nevertheless, so thanks to Dysart.

Didn't spot the author till well on in the grid fill, and my edition of ODQ doesn't have the relevant quote, so I didn't find this as easy as some!

An interesting evening's work - didn't know the quotation, but it dropped out from the ODQ when the author was revealed.

My final grid looks like an explosion in a highlighter factory, but that's probably just me overdoing it for my own edification, rather than following the precise instructions.

Some nice clues - 42ac made me smile.

I seem to have ground to complete halt with one clue left (30ac) and no idea of the author or quotation. Perhaps inspiration will come this evening when I take another look. I am probably missing something obvious.

Really enjoyable, and an interesting theme. Thanks, Dysart. You made a dire international flight a lot more fun than it would otherwise have been (not least because I had to wait until landing before identifying the quotation and tidying up the loose ends).

That wasn't too difficult although it did take a while to find the quotation. Perhaps I should invest in an ODQ. I am assuming that as I have additional types that fit the preamble they must be the correct answers.
