Actually the first time I've seen a Piccadilly crossword, but I see that they're a prolific setter. This was also the first un-numbered EV I've seen, which probably shows how little time I've been solving them more than anything else. Anyway, a very pleasing finish and while the clues didn't seem that hard they were certainly fair and most had great surface reading. Thanks Piccadilly!

Yes Slaney I was the lucky winner. Unbelievably it was my first ever entry. I'll still do the EV every week but I don't expect my good fortune to continue. Look forward to the fountain pen- does anyone know how long it takes to arrive? Also is it a specific brand?

I also noticed that I can't spell "Enigmatic". Oops.
Hello jim360,
Normally I don't like these "jig-saw" crosswords, but found today's offering good fun. Solved all but 2 of the clues quite quickly, they were very fair, followed by a leap of faith to start fitting them led to the right solution.
Very straightforward for a "jigsaw", probably due to relatively easy clues. But a good finish. It's the first Sunday of the football season (American variety)!! And it's supposed to hit 95 degrees today. Somehow the two don't mix.
The finish was indeed unambiguous - nice one from Piccadilly.

I think I see an ABer's name given as a prizewinner for EV 1084 - so congratulations to him.
What an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday morning - thank you Piccadilly
Yes. an enjoyable hour or so.
Loved it, but am a jigsaw fan. Still haven't completely finished last week's! Will give me something to do.
Enjoyed this one - neat clueing, no ambiguities in clues or the final resolution.

Not a bad rate, then -- entered one, won one!! Congratulations.

I don't submit EV entries, for whatever reason -- I do enter Listeners and managed to win only my fifth submission.
Daniel, when a friend of mine won earlier in the year her pen and notepad arrived within the week. The pen is apparently made in Spain and is very desirable.
Beginner's luck -well done!
It looks a bit like this, and doesn't take too long to come...

Congratulations djawhufc,
There is a picture of it under the GK crossword in the hard copy 4 page pullout. They used to arrive a few days before the solution was published, with a letter informing you your name would appear with the solution. The brand used to be Inoxcrom. The Telegraph distinctive T appears on the tip of the nib cover. As the brand suggest they used to be made of Stainless Steel, but are now black plastic. The nib will be excellent and write well.
DocHH I was lucky enough to win two last year, and had a quick look at them. They are definitely made of metal - possibly chrome - and gold plated.
Likewise Slaney, the one I won last year on the DT is chrome as is teh one which my friend won earlier this year.
Thanks all I'll look forward to my prize in the post. Just The Listener left know as I've won Mephisto, Azed and The Spectator. Jim360 gives me some hope as I've probably only entered for the last month or so.
Sorry I meant now not know.
