I'm halfway through this, but finding it tough.

1 A. I reflexively drink with second brownie? (7) in?????
(Not 100% sure of the 'i')

26 A. Old locations for stars from Tinseltown (3) ?n?

The preamble says there are 'single-letter misprints in 22 definitions' - this might affect these two clues.
Thanks.

Hi Never, 26A is 'ins' old word for inns - locations for 'stays'. 1A is 'oneself'. drink= one. s=second. elf = brownie.

Hi Neveracrossword, I think 26 across is possibly ins (old name for a pub) which would mean stars needs changing - but I don't know what to!
Sorry, not much help, but maybe it might be!
Hi Never,
26A is 'ins' old word for inns - locations for 'stays'.

1A is 'oneself'.
drink= one. s=second. elf = brownie.
Question Author
Thanks, both of you.
one + s + elf
Sorry, I haven't woken up yet.
29 D. Once dispirited from morning scrap (5) ??or?
42 A. Sick from thrombosis-double oxygen (6) ????ts

I don't know if either of these has a misprint in the definition.
Question Author
For 29 D, I have 'amort', which means dejected/dispirited. I can see 'am' for 'morning', but I don't know how the rest works.
Thanks very much.
'ort' is a fragment.
4, the definition/misprint is 'Nick'.
Answer is CLOOTS = the Devil (Old `Nick')
I have done everything we were meant to do - but I can't find the 3 ***s.
Are we looking for their names or words that mean the same or some other cryptic thing?
Question Author
Boreas, I am much in the same position, though I still have a couple of clues to solve. I found the ???? easily enough, but can't work out how to get the 3 ????. I'll keep working at it!
Hi Never,

Have you got there?

I have just come back to the puzzle but stuck. Tried googling for the names of the three ***s but no help. Also tried different breeds. Again, no help.
Question Author
No, boreas - am still struggling to see what we're looking for.
I have found one - and it's safe inside the shape thingy.
So, logically, the other 2 should be in there too.
(It's a 4 letter word that means 'young pig)
Found a second. A 5 letter word next to the first one.
(both read downwards)
. . . and the third, nestled up against the others.
Question Author
Well done, boreas - I'm still staring. The words I had in mind were ...1 of five letters (beginning 's') and one of six ('p'). I haven't come up with a four-letter word yet- well, not for a young pig!
I have a 4 letter word beginning with S, a 5 letter word beginning with S, and a 4 letter word beginning with D.
Question Author
Thanks - I've worked out what those are, so will now just track them down in my grid.
