Very early finish today for me today mainly because I guessed the theme early on to 16a. I'm not sure how difficult this would have been otherwise. Clues were not challenging although it's a nice stroll in the park for them to be straightforward for a change. Not unenjoyable and I have loads of things I need to do today.

Hello Twit-Who,
I enjoyed this, looking in ODQ for the first few letters of 39a revealed the theme, and from then on it was plain sailing.
Even though this was on the easy side I still enjoyed it.

It gives me more time to get a good seat for this afternoon's
Rugby.
Thanks to DocHH for that hint- managed to break into this more than I was expecting, since although I had a lot of clues solved it seemed that there was a lot to this puzzle that was eluding me. Hopefully all will become clear soon.
Well after that breakthrough the rest of the grid fell into place very quickly. Not sure about one or two entries, and at least two clues seem to have extra letters in wordplay for whatever reason, but otherwise it was a nice puzzle.
easy clues + theme I'd never heard of + lucky Google search = very fast gridfill. More like a Spectator with all the unclued entries.

Pouring rain here today but at least we are not Boston. Daughter #1 in NYC lucked out with "only" a foot of snow.

Yes, an easy but pleasant jog - Like others, guessed the theme early on.
A very belated post, didn't get started until late last night, amazingly finished in double-quick time! But still, proved to be satisfying to do although I will now be looking for something to ponder over for the next couple of days.
You have had some dreadful weather in the States this year drb, feel for you.
Am off to see the Manet exhibition on Thursday evening, a very under-rated artist I feel, always over-shadowed by Monet, quite wrongly.
^How often reputations turn on the placement of a vowel. Pity poor Picosso, Rimbrandt, Warhil... lost to history now. And let's not even mention Leonardo da Vinco.
Just think, I could be Dovadilly! Will let you know what the exhibition is like.
Oh dear I've only 4 other options, unless an "unknown" is allowed!!
Agreed it was a tad on the easy side, although not convinced by the word play of a couple - and 53A didn't have a clue length.
You might not believe this - but I have only just glanced at the winner for 1054 as I was checking which clue was missing the length - and it was yours truly!
Congratulations Ringer. Always good to see a member of our little circle winning.
One of the 'unknown's' could lead to misunderstanding DacHH!
Many congratulations Ringer.....great!
