simple sennit
Simple Simons? Chapman - pedlar.
Don't think 'simple sennit' is right as it clashes with 23A - 'academe' (possibly 'academy').
19A - A party-goer of Eliot's etc. (5) may be Gibbs. I have ??B??
So 19D - Dramatic performance by Dane likely to rock audiences ? (7) could be G?A???E
Any other ideas ?

Tks Walgraver - I have the same as you & scratching my head.
19a (Alexander MacColgie) Gibbs in 'The Cocktail Party' (T.S. Eliot)

10d must be Simple Spymen (John Chapman), leaving 25a as T???D?E(Walpole governess ??) and 19d as G?A???E
Came back to say - too late - that my answer was wrong.
24a I can find a reference to a "grim Miss Trindle" who accompanies the children in Hugh Walpole's The Fortress"

Tks v much Slaney and NC4BBQ
I'm going for 'simple spymen' in 10D although I don't get it - this means 23A is 'academy' rather than 'academe' as I first thought. Otherwise, now all solved. Thanks all.
25a tilde the Spanish accent on top of the letter n?
I mean 25down of course. Getting as bad as the setter.
