Thanks for the early link Mintyman.

It looks interesting.
Thank you, Mm, much appreciated as always.
Thanks MM. Have a good day.
Thanks MM.
Many thanks Minty, and congratulations to Frogman !
Lovely early link, thanks mm.
thanks mm
Can't download the crossword today - neither as a subscriber nor from mintyman's link. Anyone else struggling?
Lubumbashi, I had no problem. Sometimes the Spectator server seems to be overloaded Thursday morning, and it just takes time. Try again, and be patient!
Thanks MM. Devilishly harder than usual!
Roslyn, I agree - but also very enjoyable!
Seem to have finished, but have 2 queries:
What is 37d (Row about swallowing special cure) -- I have R?IST.
Can anyone offer a plausible connection between the title & the theme?
37d Reist - cure

TIER < row about S (special)
Many thanks --- it had just occurred to me! Any other theories about the relevance of the title?
Finished bar one answer: 35d ree?e
Think its reede but can't justify. Any thoughts?
haggis - reeve
Thanks Roslyn. Can see how the answer is derived from 'dealing with sinner' but the definitions of reeve in my chambers 2011 don't define it as one telling tale.
Haggis,

The reference is Canterbury Tales.
Question Author
Maurice, the title is a cryptic definition of the "relevant context" (see Chambers).
I suppose you're right, mintyman:the connection is often simpler than what we're looking for (I realized that meaning of "diet"). Thanks for enabling us to access The Monster every week, too!
