12A. Inventing tapering form to limit current. C-I-I-G

I've got the answer as COINING. To coin can mean to invent, but I'd be grateful if anybody can fully explain the answer.

Like you I agree that "Coining" is inventing as in "Coining a phrase" and could be broken up to "CONING" perhaps as tapering, but where does the "I" come in

Alternatively it could be "COILING" Which is also "Tapering" Take your pick,

perhaps someone else will offer their view.
A coil is, I believe, also used to limit current
