Argh, how annoying are those noises you can pin down!

There's been this wierd pulsing noise, for about 5 seconds then off for a few minutes then on again), almost like phone on vibrate but further away. Before you start haha, it doesn't sound like "that" kind of vibrating :)

My phone is right next to me so it's not that, haven't got anything else like an alarm clock which vibrates or pulses and the boiler isn't on so can't be that. Not even sure it's even in the house but been pissing it down so loathe to go exploring! It's driving me a bit demented - keep putting the TV on mute to try and work out where it's coming from.

" . . it doesn't sound like "that" kind of vibrating".
So you do know hat "that" kind of vibrating sounds like then, Jenna?
;-)

Sorry, I can't really help you. I'm not much good at identifying sounds. I once got out of bed to let a buzzing wasp out of my bedroom. It took me a while to find where it was, but I eventually let it out of the window. A bit later, I went through a repeat performance with another wasp, and then went back to bed again. A short while later there was yet more buzzing. I spent ages trying to find out where the wasp was, before I realised that the sound was coming from my neighbour's strimmer!
;-)
is it your hearing, won't ask your age, but sometimes the buzzing, noise, pulsating can be tinnitus.
The sound that is annoying me at the moment is the sound of rain pouring down outside. It is so hard it sounds like muted thunder.
1)Check the sky for a possible UFO!
2) Check it's not an old mobile you have in a drawer!
3) Check it's not someone else's 'toy' left behind!
My toothbrush turned itself on once - very disconcerting - it was inside my cosmetics drawer and made a very loud noise..
once you hear a sound that's alien to your home, you won't rest until you find out what it is. I know that feeling well.

Ahh Chris :)

No, it's not an ear thing, I have tinnitus anyway. It's a more distant noise. There is a park near me where they sometimes have events but it doesn't sound like form that direction. My hearing isn't great but not bad at telling direction (adapted to living in the city with so much going on I guess!).

It was hammering it down here a bit early but stopped now, just seems to be lots of sharp bursts.
It's so annoying jenna. The last time we were away we bought a travel clock, telling the date time alarm temperature etc. It is shaped like a pyramid and goes through a colour sequence before turning off. Last week I knocked it off the side table and tried to re-set it and gave up with it. This week a friend stayed over and asked me what was playing 'We wish you a merry Christmas' at 4 in the morning. I didn't know. It turned out after a day searching that it is the alarm on the clock set for 4 am. I didn't know it did that.

I've been trying to go through things. My old mobile is dead as the charger doesn't work anymore (used it as an alarm until then). If it's someone else's toy I'd be worried, I've been here nearly two years haha! Will keep my eyes peeled for a UFO ;) Haven't got an electric toothbrush...arghhh...I'm sure it will turn out to be something really boring!
have you got a smaoke alarm? I had one once that didn't beep as it was supposed to when the battery was going down - it made a really weird sort of hum
an old alarm clock went off once, it had the most annoying beep beep beep, and could i find where i'd put it, and still can't figure how it came on, as rarely use it, in fact thought the battery was dead, gave me the fright of my life.
am sure you don't have a smaoke alarm - neither do I - it is of course, a smoke alarm
It's not your house phone not sitting in its cradle properly is it?

I've had a check on the fire alarms and all ok. Landline is fine, it makes a strange beeping noise (that one has got me before too haha!).

Trying to distract myself with Eastenders! Going to go explore again when it finishes. Would go for a nose about outside but I'm already in my nightie!
Ahhhhh reminds me of the time there was a vampire knocking on the back bedroom window, i spent the nigjt terrified, in the morning turned out to be a hanger knocking in the wind
next door neighbour's pleasure appliance!
Freezer alarm?
the sky box often makes that pulsing noise
What about a process of elimination by turning of the electricity for a mo and see if it stops.
Then see if the light still comes on in the fridge!
