Sorry if I over use this site - its just sooo good! Anyway, ill get to the point. When I go to the shop at lunchtime I almost always see this very cute young man who works in one of the offices near me. So my question is, how do I approach him? I'm totally rubbish at that kind of thing. He might think I'm a right biffa for all I know. Any suggestions?

You can start by saying something like "Makes a change to get out the office for a five minutes eh?" and then if he looks at you quizically you then need to explain that you think he works near you.

Either way you will get to know if he wants to talk to you or thinks you are a loon, but I'm sure it won't come to that. :o)

Drop your hanky by his feet and see if he picks it up ;o)

Seriously, try to get eye contact with him and then smile at him as you would any stranger. Don't actually act as though you fancy him. Then move on from smiling, to saying hi and take it from there. Like Cockney-si says, you could mention that you work near him and ask how his day is going. I just hope he doesn't stop going in the shop! Good luck

i know this is going to sound really cheesy, but you could always mention the weather (esp if it's hot or rainy or something extreme) - at least that will start the conversation. Smile at him and make comments here and there and gradually this will build into 'proper' conversations.
Any conversation which involves a man having to think is worth it, no matter how small.
You should approach him ask if his name is john and did he go to your school. He will reply that he isn't but will give the school he went. Tell him he is the spitting image of John and he was a great bloke but you haven't seen him in a while. It is then up to you to get him talking about himself. Compliment him whenever you can, move on to interests, then pick one where he must surely invite you. Whatever he is passsionate about, is the one where you should drop a few hints. Then the rest is up to you. Best of luck, remembber you have nothing to lose, nothing ventured nothing gained.

In nuclear reactors they use very thick concrete slabs and lead lining to stop particles getting through. But not even this barrier is as thick as the barrier some men have up that blocks out women's advances. I think they operate from such confused signals, combined with fragile egos that don't want to work off 'imaginations' that you sometimes have to erect a large sign of the guy with a photo of him, a marriage proposal, a wedding dress, and a professional photographer. Some men don't and work off the principal of 'challenge' so that they automatically won't go for some girl that approaches first. But some may be flattered by this.

Cover all bases by getting to know him first, then going out 'just as friends'. Then POUNCE! har har har.

And you now owe it to us to let us know how it went. Blow by blow accounts.

steady...

ha ha, but that's only if i do it slimfandango. I will probably chicken out. Hhhhmmmm. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I might try the dropping something on the floor (might borrow my colleagues porsche car keys for that) or pretend i think i know him from somewhere. Watch this space! (don't really watch it, it doesn't do anything).
very cute young man who works in an office? goodness me, I am flattered, just come up and ask me for a drink!
I was once sitting having a drink. A girl sat next next to me and took a swig! We got talking and went from there. I've never been 'pulled' in such a delightful way. So, Milly, if he sits on a wall with a latte, you know what to do!

fancy going for a drink octavius. lol

Good suggestion Rogk, although i think i would slap someone if they just started drinking my drink, especially if it was a latte!
See, it was easy really.  Ok!

next Friday - 7.30 ha ha

I would just say 'hello' with some flirty eye contact.  Then the next day do it again.

Its just one word and you wont have to embarass yourself  with dropping stuff, him thinking your clumsy and having to pick it up yourself.

Being of the male persuasion, I like a girl with a gorgeous smile, a good sense of humour and laid back (not literally) then again!! Anyway, just be your self girl, and if he likes you and is available, it's game on, if not  move on. Don't waste time wishing and wondering, it's your life, live it and love it.
