Longshanks was a nickname given to Edward 1
because of his great height.

daftgrandad...Edward the first was nicknamed Edward Longshanks because he was the tallest man in Court. The shank being the part of the human leg between knee and ankle

Hairpin ! One of my uncles was tall and thin.He was athletic when younger and then described as 'the galloping hairpin'.People probably had a Kirby grip, which has two long 'legs' with a looped 'head', and resembles a tall man who is 'all legs', rather than a pin, in mind but hairpin it was.

hi yogi thats a sore point still after years between me and my brother he got one for xmas when he was about 8, i tied his stretch arm strong to the door handle and stretched him all the way to the kitchen and all this green goo came out
