The pull cord that controls our shower appears to still work and the fan and ceiling light come on, however the shower itself is not coming on and neither are any of the lights on the actual shower unit. It's a redring model approx 5 years old. Any suggestions appreciated!

There's obviously a live feed present, otherwise the light and fan wouldn't come on. I'm rather concerned that the fan is on the same circuit. The fan should be on its own circuit/lighting circuit/fused spur.

A simple test is needed to see if there is a live feed present within the shower casing, but it does sound as though the shower unit has become...

Does the shower have its own fuse in (what used to be called) the fuse box? If so, check if the relevant switch has tripped.

It does bookbinder, but the light and fan are still coming on and previously when we were having work done and took the fuse out, neither of them worked which would suggest it's not the fuse (I think!)

You're quite within your rights to check the shower unit out yourself if you are confident, but, with the possibly unusual way the circuit has been arranged, then I really would advise that you have a pro check it for you.

Thanks The builder, think we'll get the plumber out!
You need an electrician, not a plumber - we do electric showers! An electrician will ascertain if there is power actually reaching the shower. Sounds to me like the shower heater has failed - how old is the shower?
oops, should have read the question fully... 5 years old, but how much use does it get? You can get spares anyway.

LCD it gets dogs abuse lol! There are 6 of us and with 4 sports-mad sons it's on up to ten times some days! I think it's time to call in the professionals, will give the electrician a shout. Thanks for the advice x.
