Anything similar besides sherry? Don't want to buy a bottle of sherry just for a few glugs...

you could use sherry vinegar at a push add a teeny drop of water
Don`t think there is. The recipes always say sherry if you can`t get rice wine. Funnily enough, I`ve got a bottle of rice wine in my cupboard which I bought with a view to cooking up lovely chinese dishes. It`s still intact - if you lived next door, you could have it!

Sherry vinegar? What about rice wine vinegar then? Got loads of that....
you only need to buy a cheap bottle of supermaret's own brand of dry sherry Ummmm - you can always use it when you're cooking fish, watered down a little instead of white wine
psml you can use gin or white wine....... (it goes in the food remember)
