There is a quotation in the Old Testament of The Bible (sorry can't remember where) where the gist is that you can't have one without the other, the sweetness of the honey, and the bitterness of the gall or wormwood. It is so very true. We only know one because of the existence of the other. Love is naught but grief wearing its Sunday clothes.

Benjamin Franklin said that a spoonful of honey attracts more flies than a gallon of vineagar. I think he meant that it only takes a little pleasantness towards people in general to gain many friends and acquaintances but if you are bitter, acid, and critical all the time everyone will avoid you.
