I remember reading once about a supposedly philosophical movement in Ancient China which involved the masters striking their students on the head to give them wisdom.
Does anyone know what this movement/branch of philosophy was called?

Thank you Heathfield :-)
My driving instructor used to sit with a rolled-up newspaper which he used to clout my leg every so often! It was only if I made a mistake he had told me about before (clout - "OBSERVATION!" - clout). He was a former police instructor and that was how he apparently used to teach the Traffic recruits to pass their advanced tests. I certainly learned quickly and I passed my test first time! He probably wouldn't get away with it now.
