2004... Twenty 'o' four?

We called 1904,  nineteen 'o' four, not one thousend nine hundred and four so shouldnt we call 2004 twenty 'o' four  and not two thousand and four?

I reckon that it will be normal practice to say "2000 and thingy" up to 2009, and then "twenty-thingy" from 2010 onwards.
Perhaps because "Two thousand and Four" is only one syllable more than "Twenty Oh Four", whereas "One Thousand Nine Hundred and Four" is four more syllables than "Nineteen Oh Four".  Therefore the principle of maximising economy of verbosity is incentivised to a much reduced extent by the present combination of circumstances with respect to the prevailing conditions of one hundred years ago.

fully agree with the above answer!!
The Oh sond is the letter "O", and the number 0 is called zero, so we should call it etiher twenty zero four, or two thousand and four.
I use both. Is that a problem?
