croggie is slang for crossbar.
we call it a crossie
I'd call it a backie as the person being given the lift stands on the little bars that can be attached to the back wheel of the bike
I know it as a crossie too....
a backie is different to a crossie where I come from. It is possible to give a backie AND a crossie at the same time!
