In the programme "Still Game" ( a couple of male Glasgow OAPs) one asked the other if another man was "chugging himself"
Does anyone know the meaning of the phrase?

I did wonder, JudgeNutmeg, but didn't think the BBC would allow it.
The characters were speaking of an elderly man who was in an old folks home. At least I think it was but I missed the first 10 mins or so of the programme
I say you chaps, what does that chugging word mean?
Not a clue, old boy, some stupid bloody scotch slang.

What would you expect from the BBC?
