Anyone know what context this word should be used in? I am currently using it as a section header to clear up ambiguity in a brief i have been given. Is there a better word for this?

Synonyms would be; Clarification, explanation, explication, exposition, annotation, illustration and interpretation.....probably a good few others as well but I can put my hand on my thesaurus right now...sorry.
You yourself use the word 'clear' and Sft's first-choice word is 'clarification'. Since the word 'elucidation' comes from the Latin 'lucidus', meaning 'clear', it seems pretty obvious that it's the perfect word for the situation. Failing that, go for Sft's first alternative.
Here's the example that the O.E.D. gives, from the historian Lord Macaulay: "His notes have the rare quality of really elucidating the text"
