'Semper fidelis' is Latin for 'Always Faithful'. It is the motto of the United States Marine Corps. However, it was the motto of the city of Exeter in England for centuries before the US Marine Corps was even thought of!
Good grief! A perfect translation and explanation, as requested, with a bit of historical background thrown in for two stars!
