A figurine is basically a sculpture, like a small statue. Normally, that would be carved from stone or some such material, but often thay are made of other materials which can be shaped/carved such as ice, soap or even butter.

in fact a butter figurine is often a part of formal feasts, especially in the older oxford colleges. Its a nice pretty way of serving butter for honoured guests.
