From Bartleby Quotations: ':For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise. ATTRIBUTION:Bible: New Testament St. Paul, in 2 Corinthians, 11:19....' "Suffer" is used in its old sense of "put up with" or "tolerate". I hope that helps.
