....fully can we hope to learn more about others. or a variation on the above....can't find an origin for it sorry Brawbird.......BTW what makes you so Braw anyhow's? though i'm sureyour totally fab is there any one reason?
Not quite what you are seeking, I know, but it does in effect say much the same: "Not until we respect ourselves can we gain the esteem of others." That is a quote from Einstein.
Not quite the same thing, but the motto of the Delphic oracle in ancient Greece was "know thyself". The phrase also recalls Polonius's advice to Laertes in Hamlet; "This above all: to thine ownself be true/And it must follow, as the night the day/Thou canst not then be false to any man"

sft42 - I posted this question again - as you noticed, because after the first time I couldn't find it on the site and thought I hadn't posted it!!!! So, thanks for your answer. And the Braw - it's cos I believe in positive thinking and unconditional positive regard for myself ...... conveniently negating all the not so braw bits!!!
