'Nkrumah can do no wrong' was one of my Mum's favourite phrases she bandied about when we were misbehaving as children, and I was reminded of this when one of my patients was reading a book about him the other day. However, nobody else I have spoken to seems to recognise this phrase. Was it ever in common usage?

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the first President of a ‘newly created Ghana’.
There was a military coup allegedly supported by CIA against Ghanaian leader in 1966
After his death he would have been held by his followers of a ‘united Africa’ has a martyr.
His words are certainly being repeated today. For more info http://www.africa-union.org/summit/JULY%202005/Statement%20by%20Brother%20Leader%20GADAFFI-%205th%20AU%20Assembly%20Sirte%20Libya.htm
Perhaps others used the phrase, but it suggests to me that your Mum found you stubborn or single-minded when you were misbehaving, similar to the phrase ‘holier than thou!’, or someone who can do no wrong!
Arguably she could have been using the phrase in a sarcastic manner and she didn’t believe the phrase she used to be a true statement!
