Having Your Colours Done

Has anyone done this? Ladybirder mentioned it and I just wondered how popular it is.

My only 'experience' with it is my next door neighbour who, because she was told it suited her, wore a Cadburys purple outfit to her daughters wedding. She's pale and has fair hair, and I think she looked awful.

Ive never felt the need to have someone tell me what colour I suit.

I remember Colour Me Beautiful being popular in the 80s, i thought it had died a death.

I was told mustard was one of my colours - urghghg I look like baby poop!

My wife's friend had a consultation, it involved the draping of a lot of different coloured scarves.

If you had it done in the 80s...those colours would probably no longer suit. I'd thought of it but figured I knew what I  felt comfortable wearing.

My wife's friend learned she could wear any colour if she wore certain colour scarves around her neck.

As she is not comfortable wearing scarves it wasn't much help

I wonder what qualifies 'Colour Me Beautiful' to train people?  A good business idea though.

I had it done yonks ago when I was doing some weekend estate agency work. One day I met ths client outside a property and she looked fabulous, not over dressed or anything, just that everything she was wearing, colour etc, suited her so well.  She told me she went to a Colour me Beautiful session so I went to one too.  My mother was a redhead and always dressed in browns and beiges and did as so many mothers do, dressed me in the same colours.  I am not a redhead and those colours don't suit me.  As B has said, different colours were put up to our faces after all make up was removed and oh boy, amazing.  It's the colour of your skin that counts and I was "diagnosed" as a Summer and should wear the colours next to my face of a border of summer flowers in bloom. Purple is one of my colours and the next day I met friends for a meal and I was the last arriving and all, yes all gasped and said OMG what have you done to yourself you look fab (makes a change). One astute friend immediately said it's her earrings, they were silver and purple.

Barry I think your friend misunderstood.  You do not have to wear a scarf, it is easier when you are being taught to put a scarf around your neck than pulling different sweaters over your head. Your friend should put the right colour next to her face whether it be a coat, blouse, raincoat whatever.

Black works for me.  It generally matches my mood anyway.

Although the other day when I was flying round like a maniac and just threw on any old thing in the morning, I nipped to the village shop and the owner looked at me and burst out laughing whilst asking "Did you get dressed by a toddler?".

Sisters and I had our colours done in the early 80s. I did use the eye shadow and foundation as they were colours I already used but not the colour most recommended for clothes

Black can be worn by all black and brown people and look good according to the CMB book.  There are lots of examples on TV of women wearing black when it doesn't suit them.  That sour faced woman Anne Robinson is one whose pale face seems to be permanently tanned nowadays.
