'Goody' is an abbreviation of 'goodwife', a title that was in the past normally applied to lower-class, usually married women...in much the same way as more recent tradesmen might call such a woman 'missus'. "The History of Goody Two-Shoes" is the title of a nursery-story, with 'Two-Shoes' being the nickname of the GIRL heroine in this case. Nowadays, it is applied to anyone who is just TOO good to be true!
