I didn't read the recipe right, should have used 'oatmeal' .. I used oats. Also .... I forgot to butter the greaseproof paper!!! There may be fireworks later :0?

I was scheduled to make a Parkin for our Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme stall at the village fete.

I was a little overhung when I made it and used Ready-Brek instead of oatmeal.....
The woman who bought it declared it delicious and badgered me for the recipe. I couldn't decide whether to give her the traditional version (which would have produced a cake different from mine) or my recipe (which would have had her producing something which wasn't proper Northern Parkin). I managed to avoid her ever after....
