I've noticed the odd adult walking about on their toes, their heels not touching the ground. Is it a medical condition?

Blimey, thanks Buen!
I wonder if it's painful, just be? Though it doesn't mention pain. So could be learnt as a child and carried on to sdulthood, or linked to existing medical problems!

I have seen children walking like this, I never knew it could be linked to autism.

ael, that's called a guilty sprint! ;0)
Barefoot running. I've been told that it's better to run like that, rather than striking the ground with your heel first, then going through your normal running gait and pushing off with your toes. It can take anywhere from six months to a year (And more) to adapt. It takes all the impact out of your heel, through your knees and as far as the lower back (I used to work in Sports Shop and on the Footwear Department).
When I was at school (many, many moons ago!) we had a PE teacher who was a former army PTI, and he used to tell us to run on our toes, not our heels. Do they make them do that in the Army? I wonder!
Oh dear. I've noticed children walking like this but so far no adults. Amazing when looking at something's that if looked into deeply there lies the answer.

What a pity more medics don't look into Vitamin B12 deficiency as there lies a whole can of worms which could answer a myriad of questions where you think questions couldn't be answered!
I've always walked on my toes, like I have imaginary high heels on, and I know it's a 'soft sign' but I don't think I'm on the autistic spectrum, however my autistic brother does it too, and he most certainly is.
My Granddaughter (on the spectrum) toe walked most of the time till she was seven, eventually she trained herself with some help.

No point in anyone else posting.....;-)
My niece walks on her tiptoes, first we thought she was really dainty, as she got older it went on, she is very autistic, we never knew until she was half way through primary school
We aren't all obsessed with BAs, sqad ;-). My son and nephews walked on tiptoes and that was a sign of autism.
I used to walk on tip toes as a child, so my mother keeps telling me.

I have some problems with balance these days and a podiatrist I saw a last year said I have very high arches.
Pixie that's how they copped my niece, one of the teachers recognised it as a sign of autism maybe, and she was quiet and withdrawn, teacher spoke to my sis, my sis followed up on it, and turned out the teacher was right. She's in a different school now and doing well
Glad to hear it , ducksie x My nephews changed schools too, but my son is less severe.
