I cannot recall the last time it was this cold in the past years

Just been out - caught a snow shower , with a cruel wind , blowing it into the face .
Some people were walking in reverse gear on the pavements

I've got to take the dog out soon, already got my outdoor gear warming up by the fire !!!

Last time for us Baz was Christmas/ New Year 2009/10. -14C up here with 2ft of snow. That was a killer. We walked, on Christmas day, 2 miles to take a dinner to MiL. On ice all the way.

Once she's done her 'business' and had a few sniffs, we're back home believe me !

Snowman and snowdog have just returned - warming up and dried now. Not nice out there. I'd to wait for a Park & Ride bus in Scarborough - stop is on the edge of escarpment to the sea(massive waves) and I can't recall cold like it for years.

We haven't felt cold like it for years because our winter weather generally comes from the west but due to some high altitude jiggery pokery this year we have a switch bringing super chilled air from a very cold Russia.

This too will pass.

I understand the forecast is even colder for tomorrow .

I always fancied myself as being an 'ice Road Trucker ' in Alaska , where the temperatures can fall to below minus 40

I think i'll give up that idea - lol - it's 'only' minus single figures here - never mind minus 40

It's going to be even colder tonight. Clear sky here, with an already bright moon.

I've been out three times today. I am not even going to the dustbin this evening.
