This is a punchline to a joke, after sitting with my colleagues for a bit, I said it, and we all stood up and got back to work, one of them commented that so many people understand what this punchline means without hearing the full joke. I thought I'd put that to the test. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yup, its the joke about bill gates goes to hell and there are 3 rooms the first two have people standing on there heads in piles of crap, the third room there all sitting drinking beer eating pizza etc..

bill says ill have a go at that room satan replys,

"alright lads back on your heads"

i think?

I heard a slightly different version -

a new arrival in Hell is given a choice of three rooms in which to spend eternity -

1.

Sorry, wrong button -

1.  People up to their necks in s*%t.

2. People up their waists in s*%t

3.  People up their ankles in s*%t.

Not suprisingly, the man chooses room 3.

Five minutes after his arrival, a devil pokes his head round the door and says "Right lads, tea break over, back on your heads!"

Takes me back to 1974...

Tea Break Over - Back On Your 'eads by the band If. The joke must have been well known then.

I first heard this joke in the 1960s. I have never come across a person who used the phrase to mean "back to work" yet didn't know of the joke.
