Can anyone tell me what the word "cabbage" means in cockney rhyming slang. Have just finished reading a book where it was mentioned twice and I can't get what the meaning is.It mentioned wearing a suit at a wedding, funeral and cabbage????

Thank you for both answers and will have to go back to book but think that party may be the correct answer. It stated that the second word was usually missed off and only the first used - as in trouble (and strife) meaning wife. Can't think of what word will go with cabbage tho.
I learned a new one today when I overheard a fellow saying that ''I'd just got up and was still in my Barack Obamas'!
kaya - love it !
I must admit this one doesn't come to mind, and i know most.
cabbage - A person in a catatonic state or seemingly brain dead.
cabbaged - Intoxicated, by alcohol or drugs, to a state of uselessness
cabbage white - fight ???

a boxing match can be quite an occasion in the East End (or so I've heard) and at least it is an event to which you might wear a suit
