Obviously it comes from the French and German for Yes, based on the fact that the primitive version had two markers, Yes or No. The pointer, usually an upturned glass, would be directed to one or the other by sleight of hand by the manipulator.

Step one, change it for a Ouija board.

They're a load of rubbish but, if you really must . . .

One goes about it very carefully......when the craze was at it's height, there were many people scared witless by it all. Having said that....I've always semi wanted to have a go....
Something I'd want to do, but wouldn't just in case x
I agree Roxie_09
But if you want to do it, 3-4 is the best time apparently as it's known as something and now it's slipped my mind! Typical lol x
We once tried it in the RAF many years ago. However, when the organiser called out, "Is there anybody there? Knock once for Yes or twice for No", followed by two knocks, I became somewhat sceptical.
I'm a strange one, I believe in ghosts etc, but I'd rather not know they are there if that makes sense x

Never tried it myself but am interested in knowing about it. Some say it works, some say don't touch as you don't know what you're getting in to, I guess it's down to the individual and what you feel about it or if you have a belief in certain things. You just have to make your own mind up and have similar minded friends if you want to do it. Be interesting to hear if you do and what you make of it.
I wouldn't even think about it. Friend of mine attended a session and they came out terrified.
Heard similar stories too boxtops. Makes you wonder if there is something more than meets the eye to spiritual matters doesn't it or is it just in the thoughts and feelings of people taking part, that they have frightened themselves rather than "something else" having frightened them.
I believe you have to go into these things (if you are going to) in a receptive frame of mind - sceptics may not get anything from it - but I believe that the dead should be left to rest (if they are being contacted, just leave them be).
First you need to be extremely gullible and find a few gullible mates, it really helps if you are all p1ssed, you get a far better result. You all sit around a table with some lettered bits of paper and a glass, the secret is nobody must know who is going to push the glass, that spoils the fun.

It apparently helps if you dim the lights (not sure why) If you have a freaky looking female that can put a scarf around her head and call herself Madam ZazA that would be guaranteed to work.

It can be very dangerous, getting p1ssed enough to believe this crap is never safe!! :-)
Don't do it. I am in my seventies now but my wife and I took part in a Ouija board session in the 1960s. It spelled out the marriage breakup of two couples we all knew but who were not present at the session. They broke up and divorced. My wife and I would never take part again.
Hedgebeater, You really sound like the ideal contender for such a game!!
I've seen it faked, and would swear that it hadn't been at the time. I've also heard stories of when it's worked and from people I truly trust not to have faked it.
