many thanks to you both! Thats a big problem solved, so will now look up on google and see if there's any more info. have a good day x
the whole country had a day off on Monday May 6th, it was a rare day off I would imagine as there was no communist mayday BH then and people worked all day Saturday, there was little 'weekend' for ordinary folk. The spoon my mum was given is an epns silver teaspoon with the royal couple on the handle and an inscription that has the initials of the west riding council

I still have the silver spoon we all got at school to celebriate the Queens coronation.
my mum has a little silver coronation carriage thing.

hi loftie -- booldawg. wish I had something from them lovely ole days.
I only had a coronation china mug that i won in a school essay when i was about eleven. So many kids in the house, it must have got broken soon after it came into the house. wish I had of treasured it now. it was filled with toffee's.I remember it well
I remember that pusskin. We all had mugs full of chocolates. I was more interested in the chocolates (still am). Bet those mugs would be collectors pieces now if they had stayed whole.
I cannot say for definite, as I was only 4 at the time but I remember receiving a coronation mug (EIIR) containing a 6d bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk. I think EIIR coronation mugs won't be worth that much as there must be still loads of them about.
1953 Coronation Day. My mum dressed me up in crepe paper as an English Rose. Cringe.
i still have my coronation cup.saucer and plate from 1953!........are they worth anything now!..........I think not much!.................
