Hi - I am expecting in MArch and someone mentioned to me that there is a grant of £190 available - does anyone know what this is for, or where I go about finding out if I qualify for it?

Many thanks

You can get the form from your GP.
All you need to do is Google "maternity grant" and lots of sites come up. Here is the Sure Start Grant http://www.direct.gov...pchildren/DG_10018854

There is also a Healthy Pregnancy Grant (again there is a website) but I think I heard that was being withdrawn - but worth a look
dont think you get it anymore
used to work in benefit few years ago, at that time a one off payment could be claimed from dss at 11 weeks to date of confinement, may have changed nowadays but contact your local job centre they will be able to tell you wha the procedyre is these dys. Good lucj with the baby !
snap tigger, that's the second one I was looking for
How many weeks will you be by 1st Jan Mokane?
I think this is the 'health in pregnancy' grant. I got mine paid at about 24 weeks I think. But I also know they were stopping it, but I'm not sure when from... thats not much help is it?!
I think the health in pregnancy grant stops march/april but you'll still get it if you're 25 weeks or further at that point. my midwife gave me the form, and that's £190 one off
I just got mine paid in last week, I am due late Feb. They are phasing it out but you may still qualify - think you can only get it after 25 weeks, so go and see your midwife just after that date to get a letter from her to send off (midwife actually reminded me about it, when I was collecting my MatB1 form). Only took a couple of weeks for them to pay it to me, very quick.
