Why would ordinary cadets annoy me so much? They are the third rate up in the corps and i'm the rate above them.

I don't like any of them at my unit and non of the one's i've met on trips are very pleasant either.

Could it be a case of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and they think they know everything when they clearly don't? Plus two of theone's at my unit won't listen to because they've been there longer than me, but in that time they clearly haven't learnt as much as me if they are lower rates than me. But really it should be the opposite, they should have more respect for me for getting that far, that quick, but they're probably jealous aswell.

Errm ... respect should be earned, not commanded.

Why go to cadets if you don't enjoy meeting the people?

It's just the three O/Cs at my unit that I don't get along with (plus someone that was an o/c but got demoted), I like everyone else.
Molly, you always have to EARN respect. You sound very disdainful of the "ordinary cadets". Try getting along with them a bit more. No-one owes you automatic respect, no matter how senior you are or how long you have been in a post.
Morning Molly ;-)

ermm...sounds a bit like any similar relationship....parents/kids....younger/older siblings.......
next you'll be saying "in my day........"

lighten up molly....this is just how things are sometimes....it will be the same when you are in the workplace, and it's a waste of time to always compare. The fact that you don't like them is also likely to colour your opinion....and it shouldn't if you are going to be professional about it.
They probably don't like you either.
<<<But really it should be the opposite, they should have more respect for me for getting that far, that quick, but they're probably jealous aswell.<<<

Absolutely molly.........and remember that if they have been 3years ahead of you then they COULD have had 3 years experience OR one years experience three times.

What are you aspirations in the Cadets? If it is to get to the top, then these "colleagues" will have to be sacrificed, riding over them with a coach and four to achieve your goal.

Good luck my love and remember, nobody remembers the "also rans"

I try to be nice with them but ever since I got premoted before them they seem to hate me and just won't do anything I tell or ask them to do.

One of them (who was an O/C when i joined) said I should let him do the drill competition because I can't march properly, which he full well knows is only because of my posture because of my disability, so he was saying I shouldn't be allowed to do it because of that, which is discrimination. I told him this, as an officer walked past, I was nearly in tears and this guy got a rick rollocking from the officer.

*right not rick.
^ Can't imagine why that might have had an effect on the lad................!?!
