filmmakers salary

I am trying to find out the average salary for a filmmaker/producer/director on a freelance basis and if working for a prpoduction company. I realise it depends on the amount of work and length of contract but can anyone shed some light?

it really depends on what area you're working in, your experience + your reputation in the industry. while you can make a lot of money in the film business there are plenty of other professions where you can make more.
