half-calorie beer

I know there are half-calorie beers cos I jheard a girl once ask for them in an off - licence. If there is what are their names and also is their STRONG half calorie - maybe a stupid question here

In a word, no. In a number of words… well, pull up a barstool and I’ll explain. The carbs that are cutback in these ‘miracle’ beers are simple sugars with a high glycaemic index. In that respect they’re not as bad as some beers when it comes to weight control and your general health. In fact, replacing your regular tipple with a low carb one or two could save you about a quarter of the calories. ‘Yippee!’ I hear you shout, ‘Low-carbs all round!’ but hold your glasses a moment longer. The reduction in a single 330ml beer will only be about 30 calories against a 100-plus calorie intake. Hardly a slimming drug now is it? And of course low carb beers still contain around 5% alcohol. This means that the short and long term negative effects associated with alcohol will be just as great as with regular beers. A better option is ‘lite beer’. These tend to have an average 3.5% alcohol content. Basically less calories and less alcohol which means less inclination to don the beer goggles, which means all the fatty foods in the kebab house don’t suddenly appear to be haute cuisine. Which means no more letters to MH about your beer gut woes.
