Found my bl00dy freezer door open today. Everythings ruined. Sooooo much meat to cook. I'm going to tot it all up and claim on our insurance cos its a huge freezer. There was an 11lb turkey in there from my hubby's Christmas perk at work. How much would this cost to buy? Its free range organic and the like.
Thanks

Are you sure the insurance policy will cover this? It may only cover the effects of electrical failure.
Your Insurance will not cover you for own negligence.
Once you have cooked all the meat why not refreeze it ?
It will not go to waste if it's cooked and refrozen !

Yes I am covered. The freezer door seal is broken so door won't stay shut. I have already spoken to the insurance company. And yes, I intend to put the cooked meat back into the new freezer. Thanks.
So, any ideas about the cost of the enormous turkey then?
28.75 according to this site for non- organic, so yours will be more

This site suggests the most expensive organic free range ones could be heading towards 100.

I'm surprised the insurers will pay up since if they know you are going to cook the stuff and refreeze it as I can't see that you have suffered any loss. Some companies would suspect 'fowl play' here.

You may already have checked whether there is an excess to pay and whether there may be any No Claims Discount implications.

Thank you.
Cook it all? Why not just throw it all away instead of risking food poisoning,or better still give it to the homeless....................thers too many of them on the streets and its about time we culled their population!
