Postage stamps in the EU

I have a postcard with a French postage stamp on it. Are all EU member states postage stamps valid in all other EU states, i.e, can I post it in the UK, for example?

No, only British stamps are valid in Britain. And even then there are restrictions, eg you can't use Isle of Man stamps in England, and any pre-decimal stamps are not valid.

Neither are French stamps valid in Germany, for example.
