Several people won over 700,000 in the lottery this week. Where will the money be put? If you break it down into 50,000 there aren't enough banks to put it in. If you put it offshore then you are covered by the government's guarantees.
Bet you are glad you didn't win this week!!

buy land, they're still not making any more of it.
gold or northern rock.
with 180 days to claim the money i would sign the ticket and stash it for a few months until the bank problems even out,

otherwise change the win to cash on the day you collect and shove it under your mattress where it is safer,
Don't Camelot help with advisors?
Are you people retarded?

do you honestly think all the banks that have now been nationalised or part nationalised are going to be allowed to now go under so that a compensation claim would need to be actioned?

Plus the fact there has not been a single pence lost in any uk bank so far in this crisis!

Plus the fact there are plenty other places you can put money these days aside from a bank that offers capital protection!!!!!

You would still have to put it into one account as you would get one cheque. Now that all the banks are part nationalised (apart from Barclays) it will all go to the government anyway!
You can put it into Gold, gilts, government bonds, Premium bonds oil/energy companies, all the financial institutions which appear to have none or little exposure. CO-OP bank springs to mind.

In fact if I had the money I would make a heavy investment in the stock market, 2009 will be bad but it will turn and and you could go from well off to rich :-D
BTW they dont give you all the cash at once its in installments.
Installments? You don't pay for the ticket in installments do you?
old joke of course,

if they are going to muck me about like that they can give me my pound back
yes carole it would go into one bank and unless that bank collapsed the day you paid it in (very unlikely) it's not something to really worry about!

If you were that rich you would use Coutts bank. They are the Queen's bankers and nothing is ever going to be allowed to happen to them now is it??
