Can I videotape a programme from the television while I am watching a DVD?

of course ! the video will record the incoming tv signal.the picture/dvd on screen has nothing to do with it !

Thanks. That's what I thought but I'm of an age where I'm not too hot on anything after the radiogram.

What's macrovision when it's at home?
macrovision is basically copy protection used in DVD's. All you need to do is route tv aerial-> video then video -> tv. (dvd will probly be via scart to tv (seperate)). Select the channel u wanna record on the vcr and Bobs Your Mums Brother.
i honestly think this will be no problem as long as the external aerial is going straight to video.as the video records the source signal,there will be no problem !
